The Blog

I’m so glad you found your way to my blog!  Here at DIY SAHM (do it yourself stay at home mom), I aim to make motherhood as fun and productive as I can.  I love to sew diapers and clothes for my daughter and husband. You can find everything mom-related under the “Mom Life” section above, and all DIY projects under “DIY.”

My recently discovered passion is drafting recipes from scratch – and they’re always Vegan! Check out the “Vegan” section; here you’ll find my growing collection of self-drafted recipes!

I’m also on a health and wellness journey; my ultimate goal is to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of ~110, starting from 150.3 lbs.  Feel free to read up about my journey over the past couple of months in the “Fitness” section!

About Me

My Family

First and foremost, I believe my job is to be the best mother I can be.  That involves a lot of time and patience, as well as insight and a surprising amount of guesswork.  I like to jokingly call “momming” the most difficult work on the planet because it is essentially on-the-job training 100% of the time, and you never get to retire.

I’ve been a mom for 13 months now.  Things are easier than they were day one, sure, but I don’t see it ever becoming “easy.”  There’s always some new challenge, a new hurdle to overcome, and more coffee that needs to be drunk.  I think the best part of being a mom is the fact that it is a fluid, living, part of me; each day brings more love and affection into my heart for my wonderfully mischievous little monkey.  See this recent post about how life changed for me when I became a mom.

My husband, Jonathan, and I have been married since August 2015; I couldn’t – and refuse to – imagine going through life with anyone else.  He is as much a part of me as I am.  We are partners in everything, especially parenting.

We have one pet, a Shetland Sheepdog named Cooper.  He was our first baby, and we affectionately call him “our boy” and probably will continue to do so, even if we have a son eventually.

So, that’s me (and my clan) in a nutshell.  Nice to meet you!!

Until next time,
Rachel
